COYI - I'm not Roeder's biggest fan, but at least he has offered up some useful and factual analysis on Hunt. Most posters on here wouldn't have a clue about him, or are too busy talking politics or spouting inane bollocks about themselves, facebook style. Or in many cases, both.

This site seized to be a football forum years back.

Oh so you're English again now Sven ROZ-der, son?

I can't keep up with all this flip flopping.

An absolute scandal that yet another of the 1966 squad dies without being knighted.
Should have happened maybe not immediately in 1966 but maybe when they'd all retired from playing.

Hunt had an incredible record for Liverpool , think he is still their highest League goalscorer despite all the success they've had since.
Still probably went under the radar a bit outside Liverpool compared to the likes of Hurst, Moore, Banks & B Charlton.
As said it was HIM scoring in the early games when Greaves wasnt that kept England going

RIP

RIP - Roger

I remember going to Sheffield Utd to see him play for Bolton, can't remember much about it, apart from Sheff Utd's ground was also a cricket pitch!

For ages our Bobby was the only deceased member of that WC winning team... in the last few years they've been dropping like flies.

I was thinking the same. It was only a couple of years ago at least 7-8 of them were still with us.

Now only Sir Geoff, George Cohen and Bobby Charlton.

Sir Geoff has usually looked in rude health though, so hopefully he's got plenty of years left.

Blimey the phrase me old grandad used makes a lot more sense now... "it soon goes around" as he referred to the march of time.

Hunt was a truly great player in his era. RIP.
